You can travel to Wells either by car or by train.

The nearest train station is Castle Cary. You can take a direct train to Castle Cary from London Paddington or Reading.

Alternatively, there are options to take a train to Bath or Bristol and then take a bus to Wells. 

If you plan to travel via Castle Cary:

• There are direct trains from London Paddington to Castle Cary, with a journey time of approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. There also direct trains from Reading.

• We suggest getting a taxi from the Castle Cary train station to Wells (about 30 minutes drive).

  • Please refer to the Accommodation page for local taxi numbers. There is no Uber and taxis must be pre-booked.

If you plan to travel via Bath:

• There are direct trains from London Paddington to Bath Spa, with a journey time of approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

• There are multiple buses which leave from Bath bus station for Wells, such as bus numbers 173 and 174. The buses will take you to central Wells.

• You might also be able to book an Uber from Bath to Wells.

If you plan to travel via Bristol:

• There are direct trains from London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads, with a journey time of approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

• Bus numbers 376 (Mendip Explorer) leave from Bristol Temple Meads train station for Wells. The bus will take you to central Wells.
